CNB pledges $45,000 to Newport City Renaissance

Derby, VT—Community National Bank (CNB) President Steve Marsh has proudly announced that the bank will be contributing $45,000.00 to the Newport City Renaissance Corporation (NCRC) in $15,000.00 annual payments over the next three years. NCRC originated in 2007 as a 501 (c) 6 non-profit organization created to serve as a catalyst for spearheading and collaborating on projects and initiatives that will boost the economic and cultural development of the city of Newport and the surrounding area.

As a local, regional, state, national and international liaison, NCRC has worked to secure Newport’s Vermont Downtown Designation, has facilitated the Regional/Urban Design Assistance Team (R/UDAT) study, has been a partner in promoting form-based code, and has been involved with the expansion of our local airport and gaining Foreign Trade Status. They have also played a key role in the development of the “Newport. Genuine by Nature” brand and have created and continue to maintain the Web site which shares valuable information about Newport’s assets and highlights business opportunities for both local and emerging markets.

Marsh commented,”NCRC has played a major role in bringing about some impressive developments for the Newport area. Executive Director Trish Sears, along with a number of dedicated board members and volunteers have made great strides in creating and highlighting the benefits of Newport as an attractive place to live, visit and conduct business. With the many ambitious development plans recently unveiled, the need for a strong and constant economic development partner will be crucial. I hope that other area businesses join CNB by providing financial support for NCRC so that they can continue their work to help bring sustainable economic growth to our area.”
