Community Matters
By Kathryn M. Austin, President and Chief Executive Officer, Community Bancorp. and Community National Bank
GIVE BACK – It’s one of the core values we proudly display throughout both public and employee areas of our bank. It’s our individual commitment to each other, our corporate responsibility to provide monetary support, and our investment in and support of our communities and community activities in their many shapes and sizes.

I’m excited to announce Community National Bank, once again, earned an “Outstanding” rating on our Community Reinvestment Act examination recently completed by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. To earn an “Outstanding” rating, the examiners must find that we are a leader in, and have an outstanding record of, helping to meet the credit needs of our community, including low-and moderate-income neighborhoods.

We are evaluated on the distribution of our loans, both geographically and among borrowers of different income levels. Our community development investments and services are also evaluated to ensure we are supporting specific community needs such as affordable housing, financial literacy, job training and economic development.

Our directors, officers and employees contributed 10,373 hours to their communities in 2016! That’s the equivalent of five full-time employees! We did this through participation in parades, Color Runs and Relay for Life events. We serve on school boards, hospital boards and Little League organizations. We are engaged with 250 separate events and organizations throughout our market areas. We often provide financial support as well as giving our employees time for these activities, and they provide their knowledge, skills and expertise.

Community banking isn’t just about taking deposits and making loans. We think it’s also about connecting with people and community. It’s one of the things that makes us “Vermont’s Community Bank”! We wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve this bank, our communities and you. I enjoy hearing from our customers and community members, so please feel free to give me a call or stop by for a visit. It would be my pleasure to meet you.
