We’ve been working on our 2023 calendar and are excited to announce that we’re going to Music Cities in 2023! Enjoy the sounds of jazz in the French Quarter, blues and soul in Memphis and country in Nashville! From Graceland to the Grand Ole Opry and the iconic Ryman Auditorium our tour covers a number of “must-sees” in these three great music cities. THURSDAYS, SEPTEMBER 1st - OCTOBER 20th from 11:00 a.m. - Noon

Back by popular demand, line dancing returns to keep us moving into the fall months. Classes will be taught to a mix of oldies, Motown and country music. We’ll meet in the community room at the Church of God located at 295 Crawford Road in Derby. The cost for the 8 weeks is $48.00 due at registration. Call us to register, 802-334-7915.

  • September 6th and 13th, Orleans Country Club at 9:30 a.m. Mahjong
  • September 20th, Goodrich Library at 10:00 a.m.

Starting September 20th, we’re moving our weekly open game time to the Goodrich Memorial Library, Main Street in Newport. We’ll begin at 10:00 a.m. and play until 12:30 p.m. The $2.00 cost to play is donated to the library. No need to RSVP, just show up! Aside from being extremely FUN, mahjong helps improve memory skills and sharpen the mind. We will continue weekly game play through the winter. If you’d like to learn how to play this awesome game and join in on the fun, give us a call to learn more about our classes.

WEDNESDAYS, SEPTEMBER 14th and 21st, 2022 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

Country Corner Squares invites Community Circle members to learn to square dance with two free lessons during their “Square Dance Fun Nights!” Following the two lessons, attendees are invited to their weekly square dance evenings. No partner needed and even those with “two left feet” are encouraged to attend! Lessons will take place at the Riverside School located at 30 Lily Pond Road in Lyndonville. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21st at 10:00 a.m.

Just in time for the annual Medicare Open Enrollment Period, our boot camp will cover all the ins and outs of Medicare, Medicare supplement plans, Medicare Advantage and prescription drug plans. There will also be a question and answer period. Whether you’re brand new to Medicare or would like more information about the supplement plans, this boot camp is for you! We’ll meet in the Community National Bank Community Room. Enter from the Crawford Road entrance off Route 5, park in the back parking lot and follow the sidewalk to the Community Room. You must R.S.V.P for this free event by calling the Community Circle office at 334-7915.

Passport10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

We’re bringing government postal employees on site for “Passport Days” for our members. Apply for a passport or renew your existing one at our Community Circle passport days. We’re scheduling 10 minute appointments and will provide the necessary forms to you in advance. Your photo will be taken and mailed along with your application. No lines or wait times. Bring your documentation and two checks, one for the U.S. Department of State and one for the USPS for the photo and postage fee. They’re not able to accept credit or debit cards.

We’ll meet in the Community Room at Community National Bank in Derby. Turn onto Crawford Road at the traffic lights and drive around and park in the back parking lot. The sidewalk will lead to the Community Room.

• THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22th, 2022 – ISLAND POND
We’ll be set up at Community National Bank in Island Pond located at 23 VT Route 105.

• TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th, 2022 – ST. JOHNSBURY
We’ll be meeting in the multi-room space within the post office building located at 1153 Main Street in St. Johnsbury.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5th, 2022

Join us aboard the M/S Mount Washington for a 2 ½ hour narrated cruise on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. While on board, we’ll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. Afterwards, we’ll return home via the stunning Kancamagus Highway. Voted as one of New England’s prettiest fall foliage drives, the Kanc, as it’s known to locals, will take us up to an elevation of just under 3,000 feet. This trip will include round trip motorcoach transportation, your cruise and a buffet lunch. We’ll leave from the Derby branch at 7:00 a.m., Barton branch at 7:15 a.m., and from the St. Johnsbury branch (Price Chopper) at 7:45 a.m. The price is $139.00 per person and is due at registration. Reeling in the wake of an unexpected heart transplant, Joy finds herself drawn to contact the donor’s family. Enjoy a finger-snapping, toe-tapping time on a seven night tour of America’s most famed musical cities – New Orleans, Memphis, and Nashville. Experience New Orleans, where jazz, food and fun are always on the menu! Choose how you explore New Orleans – by foot or by coach. Discover Mardi Gras World, where massive parade floats are crafted and taste the classic beignets at Café Du Monde. Enjoy Memphis, “birthplace of the blues.” Choose how you connect with Memphis’ history – tour Elvis Presley’s Graceland or follow the last march of Martin Luther King. Join us for two fun-filled days at Foxwoods with two nights at the beautiful Great Cedar Hotel and Tower. Try your luck at the many casinos, enjoy a variety of restaurants, the spa and pool. Foxwoods is also home to the largest Tanger outlets all under one roof. Optional Bingo on Thursday evening. A shuttle will also be available for the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center. Trip includes round trip bus transportation, two nights hotel and tax and driver gratuity. Prices are: $374.00 per person double occupancy; $344.00 per person triple occupancy, and $524.00 single occupancy. Final payment is due now. Clothes SwapFRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18th, 2022 from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Community Circle members are invited to be part of a group volunteer effort. We’ll be helping the Skills USA students from North Country Union High School with their annual Clothing Drop and Swap. This event allows hundreds of students in the Northeast Kingdom to find quality secondhand apparel for the whole family, for free. It requires many hands to make it successful and the students organizing the drop and swap are grateful for our help. This event will take place at North Country Union High School. Come celebrate the holiday with your Community Circle family! Enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and visit with friends while listening to the sounds of the season played by pianist Vivian Spates. We’ll even sing a few Christmas carols! This will be followed by a delicious holiday meal at 12:30. The cost is $39.00 including tax and gratuity and will feature an appetizer buffet, dessert and your choice of one of the following plated entrees:
• Prosciutto goat cheese stuffed chicken
• Petite filet
• Pan seared sea bass
