The price for this trip is $89.00 which includes round trip motorcoach transportation and a ticket to the afternoon performance. Payment is due at the time of booking and a copy of your Covid vaccination is also required. We’ll leave Derby at 10:00 a.m., Barton at 10:15 a.m., and St. Johnsbury at 10:30 a.m. We have a lunch reservation at the Littleton Freehouse – or you are free to get lunch at any restaurant of your choice. We expect to be back in Derby around 5:30 p.m. Due to capacity restrictions, seating is limited.

SUNDAY - TUESDAY, AUGUST 29th - 31st, 2021

LobsterJoin us on a two-night getaway to beautiful Bar Harbor, Maine where we’ll spend two nights at the Bar Harbor Regency hotel ( Located on the Atlantic oceanfront, the Bar Harbor Regency is conveniently situated near the entrance of Acadia National Park and only one mile from downtown Bar Harbor. We’ve planned a balance of scheduled events and leisure time. On Monday, we’ll enjoy a morning tour of Acadia National Park. The afternoon will be yours to explore or sign up for an optional afternoon sail aboard the Margaret Todd, a 151’ schooner. That evening, we’ll enjoy a Down East Lobster Bake (steak option available) at our hotel.

The price for this trip is $625.00 per person double occupancy, $540.00 per person triple occupancy and $960.00 single. Payment is due now. Optional afternoon sail on Monday is an additional $42.00 per person. A copy of your vaccination card is also required at the time of final payment. The motorcoach will leave from Derby at 8:00 a.m., Barton at 8:15 a.m., and from St. Johnsbury at 8:30 a.m.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.Medicine

Just in time for the annual Medicare Open Enrollment Period, our boot camp will cover all the ins and outs of Medicare, Medicare supplement plans, Medicare Advantage and prescription drug plans. There will also be a question and answer period. Whether you’re brand new to Medicare or would like more information about the supplement plans, this boot camp is for you. We’ll meet in the Community National Bank Community Room. Enter from the Crawford Road entrance off Route 5, park in the back parking lot and follow the sidewalk to the Community Room. You must R.S.V.P for this free event by calling the Community Circle office at 334-7915.

Get a good look at Vermont, and a little bit of Canada, from the top of Jay Peak via the resort’s aerial tram. We are planning to have lunch at one of the resort restaurants either before or after our tram ride. This will likely take place on a Saturday in September. Let us know if you’d like to be on the notification list for this Drive Yourself event once we’ve ironed out the details.

Discover, learn and explore the incredible Nulhegan Basin division of the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife refuge. Located four miles from the Canadian border in the most remote part of Vermont, the visitor station is 10 miles northeast of Island Pond. This division is known for abundant songbirds and has been designated as an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society. The Fish and Wildlife Refuge manager will greet us and provide an introduction. We’ll then explore the Visitor Center and hike some of their trails. Inn keeper and renowned chef, Fritz Halbedl, is opening his kitchen to us for a hands-on class on this traditional Viennese strudel. Born and raised in Austria, Chef Fritz has cooked his way across Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Saudi Arabia before spending 14 years at Royal Caribbean International as their First Senior Executive Chef of the entire fleet. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29th, 2021 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Ship WheelLake Memphremagog is a spectacular location to view some of best foliage in Orleans County. Join us aboard the Northern Star for an afternoon of fantastic scenery and great company. We will leave promptly at 2:00 p.m. from the mooring at the Gateway Center located at 84 Fyfe Drive in Newport. Please arrive by 1:45 p.m. to board. Seating is limited and payment of $29.95 is due when you reserve your seat.

Curling has a long and rich history in Scotland dating back to the 16th century. It is a game of strategy, finesse and strength, contested by teams comprised of four players. The Border Curling Club invites Community Circle members to learn about and try the sport of curling with a workshop in Beebe, Quebec. We’ll learn the rules and basics of the game, which will be followed by ice time. The price for this workshop is $20.00. The Club will supply us with grippers, sliders and all equipment. All you need to bring is a pair of sneakers, gloves, hat and your sense of adventure! Dates and times are to be determined and will depend on the border reopening. FRIDAY and SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1st and 2nd, 2021

Community Circle members are invited to be part of a group volunteer effort. We’ll be helping the Skills USA students from North Country Union High School with their annual Clothing Drop and Swap. This event allows hundreds of students to find quality secondhand apparel for the whole family, for free. This event requires many hands to make it successful and the students organizing the drop and swap are grateful for our help. There are two volunteer opportunity times to choose from:
• Friday, October 1st from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.
We’ll assist the SkillsUSA students with receiving donated clothing and sorting it into categories and sizes in the gymnasium.
• Saturday, October 2nd from 8:00 a.m. – Noon
We will be volunteering alongside the students to help keep the tables of clothing sorted and straightened up.

Try your luck at the many casinos, enjoy a variety of restaurants, the spa and pool. Foxwoods is also home to the largest Tanger outlets all under one roof. On Thursday evening, a group of us will try our luck at Bingo and you’re welcome to join us. A shuttle will also be available for the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center.
