Here it is mud season already! There are brighter days ahead and we have so much to look forward to. Stay tuned for more outdoor events, classes, day trips and short bus trips. We can’t wait to reconnect with you in the coming months.

We’ll be organizing a drive yourself event to include a guided tour of the Old Stone House Museum and a walk on their new nature trail. Please let us know if you’d like to be on the notification list once we’ve worked out all the details.

BINGO ballsTHURSDAY, APRIL 1st, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.

 Join us for an afternoon of fun and the chance to win “spring themed” gift certificates to area businesses. We will be set up to allow for social distancing at the American Legion on Veterans Avenue in Newport. Please bring your mask. This event is free, but seating is limited, so call us at 334-7915 to reserve your space.


Paint brushesSATURDAY, APRIL 17th, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.

People are turning humble rocks into works of arts and placing them in public areas to spread cheer. Whether you paint them to keep or to share, you’ll enjoy this creative outlet. This beginner class will guide you through the materials, teach you some basics and get you started. The cost for this class is $20.00 and includes paint pens and rocks to get you rolling. Payment is due at registration. We’ll meet in the CNB Community Room. Enter from the Crawford Road entrance off Route 5 and park in the back parking lot. Follow the sidewalk to the Community Room. A medical crisis can happen at any age and an Advance Directive is an important step toward making sure you get the medical care you want if you are unable to speak for yourself. Join Neely Bryant, a medical social worker at North Country Hospital for 27 years, for an educational discussion and to review the document – complete it as you go or take it home to complete. We’ll meet in the CNB Community Room in Derby. Please bring your mask. Enter from Crawford Road and park in back of the bank to access the entrance to the room. PassportWEDNESDAY, APRIL 21st, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Apply for a passport or renew your existing one with ease at our Community Circle passport day at the post office in St. Johnsbury. We’re scheduling 10 minute appointments in a private, designated, extra-large, multi-room space within the post office building located at 1153 Main Street in St. Johnsbury. Your photo and application is processed within minutes, no lines or wait times. Bring your documentation along with checks for the U.S. Department of State and the USPS for photo and postage fee. Android™ Smart Phone Workshop (any Android device)

Enhance your Android™ smart phone skills with this expert- led class! Experienced technicians from Audiocarve will cover the basics as well as Google Duo, Facebook messaging and chatting, email and video chatting. You’ll leave with a deeper knowledge of what your smart phone can do for you. There will also be time for questions and answers. Bring your smart phone.

Enhance your iPhone® skills with this expert-led class. Learn what your iPhone® can do for you! There will be plenty of time for questions and answers. Please bring your Apple iPhone®.

Zoom Class

Since the pandemic, “Zoom” has become a common household word. Zoom provides videotelephony through use of tablets, laptops, smart phones and iPads. Whether you want to learn how to connect with your family, participate in a tele-medicine appointment with your doctor, or attend a virtual class, join us for an informative “how to” class. Bring your smart phone, laptop, tablet or iPad.

SATURDAY, MAY 1st, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.

Join Shelly and Julie for a group green-up effort! We’ll meet at the East Side restaurant parking lot and cover the area along the waterfront to the Causeway Bridge. We promise you’ve never had this much fun picking up someone else’s trash! Wear long pants, a mask and waterproof footwear. Rubber gloves will be provided. Call the office to register, 334-7915.

TUESDAY, MAY 18th, 2021 from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.Passport

We’re bringing government postal employees on site for a special passport day for our members. Apply for a passport or renew your existing one with ease, no lines or wait times. We’re scheduling 10 minute appointments and will provide the necessary forms to you in advance. Bring your documentation along with checks for the U.S. Department of State and the USPS for photo and postage fee. This event will take place in our CNB Community Room in Derby. Join PGA Golf Pro Josh Olney for a relaxed, low-intensity golf clinic for the beginner. If you’re looking to learn the game or perhaps brush-up after not having been on the course in a while, this clinic is for you! Josh will cover driving, putting and chipping, to full swing skills. MAY 22nd, 2021 at 8:30 a.m.

The Community Circle Team will be walking the 4-mile course which starts at the Derby Beach House and continues up through Route 111 (the eastbound lane will be closed to traffic for runners and walkers). This will be a socially distanced event with safety protocols in place. Enjoy live performances of bluegrass music before, during and after the event. All participants who register with us by April 30th will also receive a Dandelion Run T-shirt. The event starts at 9:00 a.m. The registration fee is $19.00 in advance for the 4 mile route. A portion of each registration will be donated to Umbrella, an advocacy group that provides support to victims and families affected by domestic violence. KayakSATURDAY, JUNE 5TH, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. (RAIN DATE: JUNE 19TH)

Join Northwoods Stewardship Center for a paddle on Lake Memphremagog. From the mouth of Hall’s Creek, we will paddle out on the lake to Eagle Point in search of aquatic flora and fauna – a great spot for lunch in the canoes, too! Along the way, our nature specialists will provide nature tips. The cost for this event is $35.00 per person and includes a canoe, paddle and life jacket. Please be sure to bring along your lunch, water, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. If you bring your own kayak, paddle and life jacket, the fee is $15.00. We will meet at the Eagle Point Wildlife Management Area parking lot at 8:30 a.m. We’ll get situated on the water and hope to be paddling downstream by 9:00 a.m., then off the water around noon. SUNDAY - TUESDAY, AUGUST 29th - 31st, 2021

We’re in the process of ironing out the details for this three day, fun-filled trip to the beautiful Bar Harbor Inn and Spa. Round trip motor coach transportation, two nights in an oceanfront room at the Bar Harbor Inn and Spa, two breakfasts and one lobster dinner. Seating is limited so call for details or to reserve your seat. More details will be announced in the May newsletter.

We’re awaiting details and information on the border reopening before releasing the final details. Stay tuned!

We’re in the process of finalizing the details for a 4-night bus trip to Cape Cod. Highlights will include:

• Kennedy Memorial
• Gayhead Cliffs
• Martha’s Vineyard
• A Whale Watch
• Oak Bluff
• Nantucket
• Edgartown
• Brant Point Lighthouse

This is the season for Cranberry Harvest. If our timing is right, we’ll have a chance to see the farmers actively gathering cranberries. As we make our way back to Vermont, we’ll visit the Mayflower II and Plimoth Plantation. Departures will be available from Derby, Barton and St. Johnsbury. Call for further details, 334-7915.

WEDNESDAY - FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd - 5th, 2021Lottery Machine

Join us for two fun-filled days at Foxwoods with two nights at the beautiful Great Cedar Hotel and Tower. Try your luck at the many casinos, enjoy a variety of restaurants, the spa and pool. Foxwoods is also home to the largest Tanger outlets all under one roof. On Thursday evening, a group of us will try our luck at Bingo and you’re welcome to join us. A shuttle will also be available for the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center. Enjoy an immersive, eye-opening journey through time to explore history and today’s vibrant American Indian cultures.

This trip includes:
• Round trip motor coach transportation
• Hotel for two nights, all taxes
• Luggage handling and driver gratuity

The price for this trip is $368.00 per person double occupancy, $348.00 per person triple occupancy, and $468.00 single occupancy. We’ll leave the Community National Bank parking lot in Derby at 9:00 a.m., Barton at 9:15 a.m. and St. Johnsbury at 9:45 a.m. We’ll stop for lunch along the way. On Friday, we’ll depart for home at 1:00 p.m.
