Julie and I have enjoyed seeing many of you at our fall outings and we look forward to seeing you at our November and December events. We’ve come up with some more new ideas, outlined in this newsletter, and we hope you’ll join us.

Take out your dancing shoes for some great fun and exercise. Classes will be held at the Derby Line Fire Station on Elm Street in Derby Line so there will be plenty of room for us to spread out! No experience or partner is necessary.

Just getting started with your iPad? This class will help you get comfortable using it. Get the most out of the powerful built-in apps including Calendar, Contacts, Siri, Email, Texting, Facetime, Safari, iBooks and more! Attend our free class and learn some great tips from our local expert and get all your questions answered!

Enhance your Android™ smartphone skills with a free expert- led class! Experienced technicians from Audiocarve will cover the basics as well as Google Duo, Facebook messaging and chatting, email and video chatting. You’ll leave with a deeper knowledge of what your smartphone can do for you. There will also be time for questions and answers.

Make and Take a Holiday Centerpiece and Small Swag                


We’ve got a local expert donating her time and talent to show us how to create beautiful holiday centerpieces and swags. Join us for a festive afternoon and create something beautiful for your home for the holidays. We’ll supply the containers, greens and bows. Bring your own clippers and any additional decorations you’d like to personalize your pieces with.

The cost of this event is $10.00 and it will take place in the Community Room at Community National Bank in Derby. Enter from Crawford Road and park by the training room entrance.
Seating is limited to allow social distancing and you’ll need to wear your mask.

Whoever said “there’s no place like home for the holidays,” clearly has never been to the Derby Line Village Inn during the holidays! Decked in all its holiday finery, experience the beauty and charm of the historic 120 year- old inn at Christmas. Inn owners Fritz and Paula Halbedl are creating a very special plated holiday lunch just for us! Come celebrate the season with your Community Circle family.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16th, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.

Join us for a holiday movie afternoon at City Cinema in Newport. There will be three movies to choose from: “Elf,” “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” and “Love Actually.” You can see the movie of your choice and enjoy a fountain drink and fresh, hot, movie popcorn!

SATURDAY, JANUARY 9th, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.

This class is a designed as a starting point to help beginner card makers navigate the materials, tools and techniques associated with making your own cards. You will make and take home six greeting cards with envelopes. The cost is $25.00 and includes basic supplies. We’ll meet in the Community Room at Community National Bank in Derby. Enter from the Crawford Road entrance off Route 5 and park in the back parking lot. Follow the sidewalk to the Community Room.
We’ve limited our class size to 12 allow plenty of room for social distancing. Be sure to bring your mask and your sense of creativity!

Drive Yourself Events

Let’s get outdoors and enjoy blue skies and snow! This winter we’ll be doing some local snowshoeing on the beautiful trails at Bluff Side Farm and Memphremagog Trails. We’ll snowshoe for about 90 minutes then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. We’ll look at the weather forecast and select a date for the following week.

FEBRUARY 3rd, 2021 at NOON

Financial exploitation has been called “the crime of the 21st century” with one study suggesting that older Americans lost at least $2.9 billion to financial exploitation in 2010 by a broad spectrum of perpetrators, including persons they know and trust, as well as strangers. Join us and learn important points to consider in planning for a more secure financial future,  including how to guard against identity theft and other forms of financial exploitation, as well as how to prepare financially for unexpected life events. Join Community National Bank’s Vice President, Enterprise Risk Manager and Compliance Officer, Kelly Paul, as she leads the group through an engaging education and discussion on this important topic.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 6th, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.

There’s a new craft craze hitting the country, painted rocks. From Arizona to Vermont, rock painting is brightening the days of strangers, one colorful rock at a time. People are turning humble rocks into works of arts and placing them in public areas to spread cheer. Whether you paint them to keep or share, you’ll enjoy this creative outlet over the winter. This is also a great project to learn to do with your grandchildren. This beginner class will guide you through the materials, teach you some basics and get you started expressing your creativity!

The cost for this class is $20.00 and includes paint pens and rocks to get you rolling. Payment is due at registration.

APRIL 29th - MAY 11th, 2021 

Shelly and Julie invite you to experience the beauty, the history and the charm of Ireland. Movie Mornings in Newport and in St. Johnsbury have been suspended until further notice.

We look forward to bringing this fun monthly event back once things settle down and new movies are being released on a regular basis.
