New Partner for Karen Kitzmiller Winter Coat Drive

New Partner for Karen Kitzmiller Winter Coat Drive

Montpelier, VT—State Representative Warren Kitzmiller is getting ready for the 30th annual “Karen Kitzmiller Memorial Winter Coat Drive”. This year Warren is bringing on a new partner, the Montpelier Rotary Club, to assist with the coat drive efforts in Montpelier. In 2008, Community National Bank (CNB) came on as a partner to help broaden the coverage area to include Barre.

In 1990, the late State Representative Karen Kitzmiller of Montpelier started the event in conjunction with her campaign. Karen passed away in 2001 after a courageous battle with breast cancer, but her coat drive has lived on and has proven to be an important service to the community. Warren has continued the coat drive efforts in honor of Karen’s memory to help those in need. Many families and community members struggle with the expense of suiting up for a harsh Vermont winter. For 10 years now, the coat drive has included the collection of quilts, blankets and comforters.
