Barton VT Amber Curtis, Community National Bank Barton Office Supervisor recently had the honor of presenting Brenda Sargent with Community National Bank’s Community Service Award. This award was developed by the bank in 1996 to recognize the “unsung heroes” that make our communities better places to work and live.
Brenda has been an instrumental part of her community for several years. As an active member of the Northeastern Vermont Area Agency on Aging, she has provided direct care to area seniors allowing them to continue to live independently. She has coordinated community dinners offering healthy food and friendship for many who otherwise may be alone for the holidays.
For the past five years, Brenda has been the Director of the Barton Senior Center. Her passion to provide wholesome and interactive activities has grown the center into one of the most efficient and creative in the state. Brenda instructs Healthy Living exercise classes, square dancing and coordinates trips to IROC, music performances and talent shows. She’s worked countless hours to secure funding and coordinates a large team of volunteers needed to provide high quality food, service and care both in the center and by way of deliveries to community members unable to travel. To celebrate Brenda’s dedication to her community, we are proud to present her with Community National Bank’s Community Service Award for the second quarter of 2010.
Community National Bank’s Community Service Award honors and recognizes our recipients by making a $500.00 contribution to a local non-profit organization of the recipient’s choice. Brenda has requested that her donation be made to the Barton Senior Center.
